NTR dist panel node for 27 new sand reaches

NTR District Collector Dr S Dilli Rao has revealed that 27 new sand reaches will be identified in the western part of the district. He added that the district-level sand committee had given its approval for digging of sand in the respective reaches subject to environment and other related permissions.

He chaired the district-level sand committee meeting, attended by Groundwater, Mines, Rural Water Supply, Police and Water Resources department officials, at the collectorate in Vijayawada on Tuesday.

Collector Dilli Rao said that new sand reaches were identified at Indugapally, Kanneveedu and Allurupadu in Vatsavai mandal, Chevitikallu, Kunikinapadu, Pendyala, Vemulapalli and Gani Atkuru in Kanchikacherla, Magallu in Nandigama mandal, Malkapuram in Jaggaiahpet, Pokkunuru, Ustepalli, Kasarabad and Eturu in Chandarlapadu, Venganaya kunipalem, Sangapadu and Penuganchiprolu in Penuganchiprolu mandal.

The Collector said that the new extent would be 129.37 hectares and around 12,93,700 metric tonnes of sand would be available. He further said that 1,49,109 MT of sand had already been stored in seven depots in the district.

Further, the Collector said that at present, adequate sand was available for the construction of houses as well as government priority buildings such as Rythu Bharosa Kendras, Sachivalayams, Manabadi-Nadu Nedu and Health clinics. Dilli Rao ordered the officials concerned to take action against illegal sand mining.

Joint Collector S Nupur Ajay Kumar, Mining Deputy Director Subramaneyeswara Rao, Krishna Central Division Executive Engineer PV Krishna Rao and others were present.
