Medak Lok Sabha member M Raghunandan Rao has charged the Congress government in Telangana with adopting double standards as far as observing Telangana liberation day on September 17 and accused the previous BRS regime of adopting the same policy in the past.
The Congress has abandoned the task of fulfilling the aspirations of the people by observing September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day for fear of inviting the wrath of the MIM, he said.
He was taking part in a blood-donation camp held at NSV Blood Bank here on Tuesday on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The camp was held under the aegis of BJYM district president Neelam Dinesh.
Later talking to the media, he observed that the Congress government in Karnataka has been celebrating the Telangana Liberation Day officially, but why is the Congress regime in Telangana not celebrating the event.
The Maharashtra Government officially celebrated the Telangana Liberation Day by hoisting the national flag. If the Congress party’s stand is the same on celebrating the Telangana liberation Day, why the Congress governments in two states take divergent stand on the issue, he questioned and maintained that the BJP when it came to power in Telangana would celebrate September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day.
The State government insulted the sacrifices made by 1,200 youth for the sake of Telangana, he alleged.
Why did the BRS regime not install Telangana Talli statue in front of Secretariat, he said, alleging that KTR wanted to instal the statue of his father if the BRS government would have returned to power for a third consecutive term, he alleged.
