Officials asked to shift people from low-lying areas to relief centres

District Collector K Vetri Selvi directed the officials to shift people living in low-lying areas to the relief camps.
The Collector visited some of the rain-affected areas including Velammapet, petrol bunk area, Tiuruvur road and lorry union locality in Nuzvid constituency, accompanied by Joint Collector P Dhatri Reddy and SP K P Shiva Kishore on Sunday.
The Collector inspected the flood relief centre set up at Girls High School. She inquired with the victims about the accommodation and food facilities arranged for them.
Collector Vetri Selvi directed the Municipal Commissioner to undertake special sanitation programs in Nuzvid town and at the rehabilitation centers. The Collector told the officials that those who are living in dilapidated houses should be identified and shifted to the relief centres as a precautionary measure.  
The Collector, SP and JC inspected the houses at Velrampet where they found some houses in a dilapidated state. Collector Vetri Selvi noticed an elderly woman Sarojani living in a dilapidated house and directed the authorities to shift her to a relief camp immediately.
Joint Collector Dhatri Reddy directed the officials to the college for the details of damaged houses due to rain and submitted the details to her. Nuzvid RDO Y Bhavani Shankari horticulture DD Rammohan and other officials were among those who accompanied the Collector.
