Officials directed to be on high alert in the wake of rains

District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh directed the district machinery to be on high alert in the wake of the heavy rain forecast in the next few days and floods to the Godavari river.

The Collector said that a control room with phone number of 1800 233 1077 was set up in the Collectorate here to provide needed information to the people and the control room would work round the clock.

He said said that a control room was set up in Jangareddygudem RDO office with the number 95532 20234, the control rooms in Kukkunur Tehsildar office with the numbers 7013128597, 9848590546 and Velerupadu Tehsildar office with the number 6309254781 would work continuously.

The Collector asked the officials to be prepared to face any eventuality in the wake of heavy rains. He asked them to send reports from time to time on the rains. He said that the relief camps should continue and medical camps should function to provide medical treatment to the flood victims.

Collector Prasanna Venkatesh spoke with Telangana counterpart on the flood situation. Highest rainfall 71 MM recorded at Agiripalli mandal.

Meanwhile, the river Godavari flood situation remained unchanged as 7,62 lakh cusecs of water was being discharged from the Polavaram project to the downstream. The water level at Polavaram project spillway stood at 31.500 meters, 32.080 meters at upper cofferdam and 22.470 at lower cofferdam.
