Officials directed to enroll all Rabi crops under PMFBY scheme

District Collector S Nagalakshmi has instructed the concerned officials to ensure that the names of all eligible farmers’ crops are included in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) scheme for the Rabi season.
The Collector held a video conference with the officials, accompanied by Joint Collector A. Bhargav Teja, on Thursday. During the meeting, Collector Nagalakshmi announced that the government had extended the opportunity for farmers to enrol in the PMFBY scheme until December 31, 2024, by paying a nominal premium of 0.3 per cent for crops grown in the Rabi season.
She further stated that farmers in the district can avail of crop insurance under the PMFBY scheme by paying a nominal premium: Rs 48 per acre for jowar, Rs 114 per acre for maize, Rs 45 per acre for green gram, Rs 50 per acre for black gram, and Rs 70 per acre for Bengal gram.
The Collector instructed agriculture officials to conduct meetings with farmers and tenant farmers to raise awareness and encourage them to enrol their crops in the scheme by paying the affordable premium. She emphasised that steps should be taken to ensure 100% enrolment of farmers cultivating Rabi crops in the PMFBY scheme within the given time frame.
