Officials directed to expedite Gandhi Park works

Municipal Commissioner Keerthi Chekuri directed the officials concerned to expedite the Gandhi Park development works and warned of action if the works are not completed by prescribed time.
The municipal commissioner inspected the ongoing Gandhi park development works and construction of CC drain at Srinagar colony here on Tuesday.

She expressed her impatience with the contractor and engineering officers for the progress of the works not being at the expected level and the work not being done as per the specified deadline, and said that the Gandhi Park is important for the city of Guntur and that an action plan should be prepared to speed up the work and make it available to the public soon.

She told the officials that she would inspect the progress of the works and review every day from now on. She told the officials that the DEE and EE should be at the field level and take appropriate action to speed up the works.

She warned of initiating departmental action if there was any delay in completing the work. The DEE was ordered to review the work of the electricity department. She said that the basement for the underground cable had been completed and steps should be taken to install the poles and lights within a week.

The arrangement of walking track, greenery, open gym and play equipment in the existing park should be made as planned, she directed the officials. She told the officials that the skating-ring and dinosaur theatre should be reconstructed in a more modern manner and the parking place, stalls and toilets should be constructed as per the plan.

Later, the dimensions and quality of the newly constructed 318 meter CC drain in Srinagar at a cost of Rs 22 lakhs were examined. It has been clarified that the quality controller should properly record the development works at the respective stages and if there are errors in the report, appropriate action would be taken.

The commissioner said to the secretaries of the secretariat that every structure within the secretariat should be according to the plan approved by the municipal corporation, if there are unauthorized structures and layouts, action will be taken against the planning secretary. Municipal corporators M Bharati, M Srivalli, SE Bhaskar and other officials were among those who accompanied her.
