Municipal Commissioner Keerthi Chekuri directed officials to ensure that garbage is not dumped on the roads and that sanitation is carried out efficiently in the city. The commissioner held a review meeting with the officials of the public health department and SE on sanitation works, household garbage collection, waste removal, and trade licenses in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said that strict action would be taken against those who are negligent in sanitation work in the city, and everyone should carry out the duties of Swachha Guntur Sadhana.
She expressed anger over the improper sanitation work in Chilakaluripet Road and other areas and ordered the CMHO to issue show-cause notices to Sanitary Supervisor Rambabu for lack of sanitation supervision. The Public Health Officers were directed to coordinate with the Vehicle Shed A.E. and D.E.E. The inspectors were ordered to set up a dustbin in front of every commercial establishment and to collect the garbage. Bulk waste generators must establish a waste management unit.
Keerthi Chekuri ordered surprise inspections in some wards every day, to take measures to improve sanitation and recommend actions to those who are negligent at the field level. “To ensure proper sanitation works are done within the Secretariat, workers should be allocated for house-to-house garbage collection and sweeping of main roads. A specified time should be set aside for the collection of garbage from street vendors. Businesses without trade licenses should be seized,” she said.
Deputy Commissioner T Venkata Krishnaiah, SE Bhaskar, CMOH. Dr. Vijayalakshmi, MHO Dr. Bhanu Prakash, DEE Hanif, Biologist Madhusudan Rao, and YY Rambabu were among those who were present.
