Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj K Pawan Kalyan has said that ‘Grama Sabhalu’ will be organised in 13,326 village panchayats on August 23 to discuss and take decisions on various vital issues including MGNREGA works and directed the officials to take steps to organise them successfully.
Pawan Kalyan held a meeting with the officials in his camp office at Mangalagiri and reviewed various issues including the holding of ‘Grama Sabhalu’.  ‘Gram Sabha’ is the right forum to decide what works to be undertaken and developed through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, he opined. Through this, the people will have the opportunity to discuss and decide what works are needed for your town, he stated.
The amount of funds received for those works and how they would be spent would be informed by the ‘Gram Sabhas’, Pawan Kalyan revealed, adding that many said that ‘Grama Sabhas’ should be held across the state on the same day.
“That is why, we have decided to organise ‘Grama Sabhas’ in 13,326 panchayats on the 23rd of this month. The work to be undertaken in the villages in the financial year 2024-25 will be discussed and approved in the ‘Gram Sabha’. Panchayat officials should make people fully aware of the management of Gram Sabhas,” the Minister noted.
Pawan Kalyan directed the officials to inform the people about the Gram Sabha two days before. “Steps should be taken to conduct the Grama Sabha meaningfully. It is necessary to conduct the Grama Sabhalu with the participation of the people. So that people can be part of the development of their villages,” he told the officials.
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Principal Secretary Seshibhusan Kumar and Commissioner Sri Krishna Teja were among those who attended the meeting.
