Hyderabad District Electoral Officer (DEO) Ronald Rose on Sturday directed the officials to provide all necessary facilities to the polling staff and voters on the day of voting, scheduled on May 13.
In view of the elections, a meeting was organised with Parliament and Assembly Returning Officers (RO) and Assistant Returning Officers (ARO) on Saturday afternoon. The DEO instructed the officials to ensure that there are no deficiencies in the provision of tents for shade and drinking water at the polling centers.
He ordered the officials to provide proper lighting and fans at the polling centres. In view of the high intensity of the sun, the officials were instructed to arrange juice and buttermilk for the staff of the election officials to give some amount to the sector officer for these arrangements. The RO and ARO have been directed to appoint an in-charge for setting up these facilities.
Meanwhile, the DEO has completed the second stage of supplementary randomisation of EVMs. Hyderabad Parliament Constituency has 1,944 polling stations and each polling station requires two ballot units.
As the instructions of DEO Ronald Rose, GHMC officials are conducting awareness campaigns in the district and they are conveying the priority of vote. At every public toilet in the city, officials have put awareness banners which show, “I will vote for sure”, “Check your vote again in the voter list, Polling date is May 13, 2024.”
