One held for selling banned e-cigarettes

The Hyderabad police apprehended a 31-year-old individual involved in the illegal procurement and sale of banned e-cigarettes containing nicotine and confiscated e-cigarettes worth Rs 6 lakh.

The accused was identified as Salman Parveen, a resident of Shahalibanda, Hyderabad, who was engaged in the illegal trade of prohibited e-cigarettes. He was found to be in possession of various brands and flavours of banned e-cigarettes, including Elfbar, Tugboat Ultra, YouTo, and iGet, among others.

Salman Parveen, originally from Mumbai, came to Hyderabad for educational purposes and had been residing in Shalibanda area for the past two years. After facing job rejections, he developed an addiction to e-cigarettes and devised a plan to sell them at inflated prices for personal gain. He established a shop called The Smoke Bar located on Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, where he sold the banned e-cigarettes to customers.

The raid on The Smoke Bar was conducted based on specific information received by the Commissioner’s Task Force and Banjara Hills Police. During the operation, the accused was apprehended, and a significant quantity of banned e-cigarettes was seized. It is important to note that e-cigarettes have been found to contain harmful chemicals such as Acetaldehyde, Acrolein, and Formaldehyde, which can lead to lung disease and cardiovascular issues.

Salman Parveen, along with the seized material, was handed over to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Banjara Hills Police Station for further investigation.
