One worker died and two others were injured when a machine carrying concrete mixture collapsed at a cement factory in Suryapet district on Tuesday, officials said.
The incident happened at the factory located at Mellacheruvu village in the district.
The accident happened when the concrete mixture was being shifted from the ground floor to lay a slab on the sixth floor.
The machine got stuck on the fourth floor. Some workers were repairing it but suddenly it collapsed and fell down along with three workers resulting in the death of one person and injuring two others. The injured have been shifted to a hospital, a senior police official was quoted as saying. Rescue operations are underway at the factory, he said.
On the reports that several people were trapped under debris, the police officer said based on preliminary information no one seemed to have been trapped.
The deceased was identified as Arvind Singh (32). He reportedly hailed from Madya Pradesh. The accident happened in unit-4 of the industry. Revenue Divisional Officer Jagadishwar Reddy was the first to reach the accident spot on knowing about the accident. The management of the industry did not reportedly allow the media persons inside. A senior police officer was quoted as saying that the injured had been shifted to a hospital. Rescue operations are underway at the factor, he said. Earlier, there were reports that several people were trapped under the debris. The police, however, did not confirm it.
According to sources, the accident happened during the construction additional fourth unit in the industry.
