Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao has expressed the view that only Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) can stop the BJP from amending the constitution and scraping reservations.
He was addressing the BRS party booth-level committee members on Sunday.
He observed that Bada Bhai, in an indirect reference to Narendra Modi, got votes in 2014 by making false promises. He promised to deposit Rs 15 lakh into the bank accounts of every individual who opened Jan Dhan bank accounts. In 2024, Chota Bhai, in an indirect reference to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, got the votes promising to fulfil six guarantees.
Charging the Prime Minister with insulting the very formation of the state of Telangana, KTR said that Modi imposed a backbreaking burden on the people by increasing the prices of petroleum products and it led to skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. He questioned the rationale behind imposing a toll tax. Out of Rs 30 lakh crore collected, Rs 14.50 lakh crore was allotted to waive the loans of Adani, Ambani and the like.
In Karimnagar, the main contest is between the BJP and the BRS because the Congress has fielded a weak candidate. The Congress did not field either Praveen Reddy or Jeevan Reddy. Praveen Reddy or Jeevan Reddy would have offered stiff resistance to Bandi Sanjay.
If the BRS can win 10-12 seats, it would be in a position to dictate terms to the Central government. KCR has been conducting bus yatra to interact with people though he is 70 years old despite suffering a fracture to his pelvis. He condemned the arrest of BRS MLC and his sister K Kavitha.
“Let us give the slogan ‘Jai Sriram’ as Lord Sri Rama belonged to one and all and he is not a BJP MLA or BJP MP,” said KTR.
