Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj K Pawan Kalyan emphasized that the industries should take the responsibility of protecting the environment by reducing pollution.
Addressing a workshop ‘Consultative Workshop on Mitigation of Environment Pollution’ here on Wednesday, Pawan Kalyan said that the industries that are part of the development, should also recognize their responsibility to provide a good environment for the future generations.
Stating that there is a need to encourage industries, he said that but at the same time, plans should be prepared to encourage pollution-free industries as much as possible.
“In the present situation, protecting the environment and moving forward in the path of development are both crucial. Appropriate means need to be explored for this. Experts should focus on this. There is a need to come up with a permanent solution to the problem of pollution,” the deputy Chief Minister observed.
He voiced concern at increasing pollution in industries, and at the same time, taking place of accidents in industries in recent times. He highlighted that AP has 974 KMs long coastal corridor and it should be developed and industries should be established without damaging the environment, he opined.
He underlined that all should be part of regulating water and air pollution and called upon experts to give valuable advice on preventing pollution. He appreciated the NGO who are striving to check pollution.
“We are working on how much we can prevent pollution during the next five years. All should work in a coordinated manner to curb pollution,” he observed. Pollution Control Board chairman P Krishnaiah and APIIC Director Cherukuri Sridhar were among those who participated in the workshop.
