Opposition parties are playing cheap politics, said Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy here on Monday, while addressing a media conference.
“Even after the police inflicted humiliating defeat, the opposition is spreading false propaganda to create fear and confusion among people,” he pointed out. He cited the examples of the opposition leaders trying to mislead the people by saying that the farmers would lose their lands due to the construction of a flyover on the Tirumalagiri-Suryapet road, and are still creating unnecessary fears among the public. So is the case with the Arvapalli-Danachella road, they are spreading baseless rumours that a flyover at Arvapalli.
He assured the people that they would not lose even an inch of their land due to the junction improvement works. There is no basis for any such rumours. Flyovers have already been constructed on the Goutharelli-Bhadrachalam road, as well as for places like Peddamberpet and Ramoji Film City. The Congress government is committed to the welfare of all sections of people. The work on the Hyderabad- Vijayawada (NH-65) expansion, which would be widened into six lanes, would begin in the next three months and be completed within 18 months.
The Minister also shared plans for the construction of a regional ring road (RRR), which would be built in five phases across a length of 161.518 kilometres. Tenders for the northern section of the road, costing  Rs 7104.06 crore, would be called on February 14, and work would commence soon. He added that the DPR for the southern section had already been prepared, with tenders already issued.
The Minister said the state government is prioritising the welfare of the people and ensuring that development plans do not disrupt their lives.
Earlier Minister Reddy Inaugurates Road Development and Welfare Initiatives in Nalgonda. He affirmed that the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department is taking all necessary measures to improve and strengthen the road infrastructure in Nalgonda district. On Monday, he laid the foundation stone for the road development project, which would span from Sagar Road to Kanagal via Timmannagudem, with an investment of  Rs 14 crore. The Minister said that special funds were allocated for the development of roads in Nalgonda district. He also announced that the state government would launch more welfare programmes on January 26 for the poor.
During the visit, the Minister also interacted with students at the District Primary School in Kanagal mandal. He advised them to excel in their studies and work hard to achieve success. The school headmaster of the Vidya Bharathi requested the Minister to address the problem being faced by pupils. The Minister immediately sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for the construction of toilets and a mini water tank at the school.
