Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board Managing Director Sudarshan Reddy said that in the package-1 of ORR project phase-2, out of 33 reservoirs, 22 have been completed and the rest of them are at the last stage of completion.
On Thursday, Sudarshan Reddy inspected the Tukkuguda, Pahadi Sharif, Sultanpur, Kashan Gutta, Gurranguda, Kammaguda, Tirumala Nagar and Nandi Hills reservoirs in Package 1 of the ORR Project Phase-2 to supply drinking water to the villages, colonies and gated communities spread within the Outer Ring Road. He ordered the officials to complete the 11 reservoirs quickly. HMWSSB is laying a new pipeline of 1522.27 km for supplying drinking water.
The ORR Phase-2 project is being undertaken at a total cost of Rs1,200 crore in which 73 new service reservoirs (capacity of 138 million liters) and 2,988 km of new pipeline network are being constructed. If this project is completed and the reservoirs are made available, a total of 3.6 lakh families and 25 lakh population will benefit from it. Overall, 7 Municipal Corporations, 18 Municipalities and 24 Gram Panchayats will benefit. It has been decided to complete the project in two packages.
