‘Our population underestimated’

Must read

The Munnur Kapu community has strongly condemned the underestimation of their population in the government’s caste census. Munnur Kapu leaders said the government humiliated them by undercounting their numbers even though they constituted the majority.
The Munnur Kapu leaders decided to organise a huge public meeting with 10 lakh people in Hyderabad to protest against the survey conducted by the government.
Responding to the call of the Munnur Kapu Apex Council, prominent Munnur Kapu members held an emergency meeting on Sunday at the VHR Banquet Hall at the Sikh Village in Secunderabad on the topic ‘Caste Census Results – Mistakes Made.’
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Rajya Sabha Members Vaddiraju Ravichandra, Dr Kova Laxman, Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar, MLC Teenmar Mallanna and others demanded that Chief Minister Revanth should order a resurvey immediately and said that they oppose the caste census survey.
Speaking at the meeting chaired by Apex Council Convener Sardar Putam Purushottam Rao, Union Minister Sanjay said that as the Munnur Kapu community has a majority in the state, the BJP and the Congress have appointed Munnur Kapu leaders as state party presidents several times.
He said that there is a need to organise programmes to make Munnur Kapus active.
Rajya Sabha Member Dr Laxman said that whenever the occasion arises, we need to move forward with unity and increase the pressure on rulers.
He said that there is no point in accepting this caste census that underestimated their population, and we should immediately demand a re-survey.
MLA Gangula Kamalakar said that we should all be proud of our Munnuru Kapu caste.
Speaking at the meeting, Rajya Sabha Member and Munnurukapu Sangam State Honorary President Vaddiraju Ravichandra said that it is a joy to see everyone on the same platform.
He said that if Revanth conspires to harm us, we are ready to show our unity. He said that caste is our priority, and its benefits and interests are important to all of us.
MP Vaddiraju explained that he and Dr Laxman got their posts due to the unity, discipline, and initiative among us.
Speaking at the meeting, former PSC member C. Vitthal said that underestimating our population was an intolerable mistake. He said that there is a need to take direct action to make the government open its eyes.

Bandi Sanjeev, the youth president of Munnurukapu Sangam, said that the survey report that cut our population is like scrap paper.

Strongly opposing the caste census report Bandi Padmakka, the President of the Munnur Kapu women’s wing, said that we should burn the effigies of Revanth Reddy in district and mandal centres and prove our strength.

MLC Teenmar Mallanna said that there is a need to build a movement to achieve a fair share of government schemes.

After the meeting, Munnuru Kapu Sangam State President Konda Devaiah spoke to reporters and announced the next course of action.

He said that they would hold protests at district and Mandal centres protesting against the bogus caste census survey and submit petitions to collectors and tehsildars.
