Owaisi flays Himanta’s rules for Bangla Muslims

Must read

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday took a dig at Assam Chief Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma, as the latter called for indeginous rules for Bangladesh-origin Bengali-speaking Muslims.
On March 23, Sarma put up certain conditions for the migrant Bangladesh-origin Bengali-speaking Muslims called Miya. “If they want to be recognised as indegenous people of the State, they should stop having more than two children and practicing polygamy as it is not the culture of Assamese people. If they want to become indegenous they cannot marry off their minor daughters.”
Reacting to the statement, Owaisi took to X (formerly Twitter) and said, “Bengali-speaking Muslims are already ‘indigenous’ to India. He is no one to demand constant proof of loyalty. This is just a naked show of bigotry and racism,” he added.
