Owaisi’s effigy burnt over ‘Jai Palestine’ slogan

Must read

Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal on Sunday burnt the effigies of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s effigy in New Delhi.
The incident occurred at 34 Ashoka Road, which is Owaisi’s Delhi residence. Members of the two groups resorted to the step in protest of the Hyderabad MP’s ‘Jai Palestine ‘ slogan in the Lok Sabha while taking oath.
On June 27, a few miscreants smeared black ink on the MP’s residence over the slogan. Owaisi, while taking his oath as the Member of Parliament raised ‘Jai Palestine’ slogans along with ‘Jai MIM, Jai BHIM, Jai Telangana and Takbeer Allah hu Akbar’.
This did not go well with the BJP and their Hindutva supporters. Many protested against Owaisi raising placards with pictures of Owaisi’s face on a pig. The posters read ‘Palestine ke samarthak Palestine jao’, which translates to “Supporter of Palestine go to Palestine.”
While the perpetrators pasted a poster on his address plate with “I stand with Israel” and “Bharat Matha ki jai” slogans on it, there was a depiction of Owaisi in a derogatory manner on the poster, with his head placed between two hands, with one hand tri-coloured and the other coloured with Israel flag.
Reacting to a recent lynching of a Muslim youth in Gujarat, the AIMIM president asked the Gujarat police to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter.
Owaisi took to X and said, “Salman Vohra was brutally lynched as a crowd watched and cheered the murderers. Some members of the Kshatriya community are reportedly pressuring the police to remove the name of Shakti Singh from the list of accused. He is also a relative of a BJP MLA. I spoke to Salman’s father Hanifbhai on phone and assured him of all possible support. AIMIM Gujarat president@SabirKabliwala also met his family in this difficult time.  @GujaratPolice  must take impartial action and ensure justice. Lynchings continue to happen because such murderers almost always have the sympathies of the ruling establishment.”
