District Collector Ashish Sangwan has said that the district has set a target to procure 5.5 lakh tonnes of paddy in Vanakalam season by establishing 351 paddy procurement centres in the district. The Grade-A variety of paddy will be procured at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 2,203 a quintal while common grade will be procured at the MSP of Rs 2183 a quintal.
Reviewing the paddy procurement arrangements with officials here on Friday, the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) will set up 328 procurement centres, while Indira Kranti Padham will operate 23 procurement centers. The procurement centres will be inaugurated in the second week of October. He asked the district officials to inspect the procurement centres.
He asked the officials to keep ready required number of gunny bags, paddy cleaners and tarpaulins and provide amenities like drinking water, tents, electricity facility for farmers at the procurement centres.
Additional Collector Srinivas Reddy, DRDO Surender, district civil supplies officer Mallikarjuna Babu, Civil Supplies Manager Rajender, assistant civil supplies officer Narasimha Rao, district Agriculture officer Tirumala Prasad, district transport officer Srinivas Reddy, district civil supplies officer Rammohan, LDM Ravi Kant, district marketing officer Ramya and others took part in the meeting.
