Paid holiday for AP employees to vote in Telangana polls

Mukesh Kumar Meena, Chief Electoral Officer and Principal Secretary to the Government, has said that in view of elections to the Legislative Assembly of Telangana on Thursday, orders have been issued granting paid holiday to the employees of the Government of Andhara Pradesh who have votes in Telangana State. GO Rt No. 2293 was issued on Wednesday, enabling the AP government employees to use paid holiday for voting purposes in Telangana elections.
The order follows a request made by the general secretary, Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Association, Velagapudi, Amaravati, in this regard and as per the provision in Section 135 B (1) of the Representation of People Act, 1951.
The employees need to apply for leave with documentary proof of EPIC card.
The order was forwarded to all departments of the AP Secretariat, all the heads of departments in the State and all other government departments.
