In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has announced stringent measures targeting Pakistani nationals residing in India.
The attack reportedly carried out by Pakistan-backed terrorists, involved the brutal killing of tourists in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, prompting a nationwide security response.
Invoking Section 3(1) of the Foreigners Act, 1946, the Ministry has revoked all visas issued to Pakistani citizens. As per the latest directive, all Pakistani nationals currently in India on any visa must leave the country by April 27. However, those who entered the country on medical visas have been given until April 29 to depart.
The Government of India has also suspended all visa services for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect. Notably, this directive does not apply to long-term visas, diplomatic visas or official visas.
In Andhra Pradesh, Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta, has instructed law enforcement authorities across the State to identify Pakistani nationals residing in the region and ensure they return to their country within the stipulated time frame. The DGP further warned that any Pakistani national found violating the directive or overstaying beyond the designated period will face legal action under relevant Indian laws.
