The panchayat by-poll was held across 26 districts in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, except for a few minor incidents the poll process went on peacefully. The by-poll was held for 34 Gram Sarpanches, 245 Ward members for casual vacancies.
The polling started at 7 am and was held till 1 pm. As the panchayat by-poll was held as a non-political party basis it was not taken seriously.
However after the polling was completed by 1 pm the counting process began at 2 pm and when reports came last the counting process was still under way.
On the other hand both the ruling YSRCP and TDP claim that their supported candidates are in the lead and express confidence that they would win the by-poll.
The ruling YSRCP supporters claim that in Nellore their supported candidate has almost won. In Eluru West Godavari and Krishna, NTR, East Godavari, Anantapur, Sri Satya Sai, Chittoor, Anakapalli, Srikakulam districts too the YSRCP supported candidate has almost won the polls. However the final result is yet to be declared when the reports can last.
