Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan has extended his support to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s decision to take legal action in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case, which claimed the life of a woman. Pawan Kalyan endorsed the arrest of film actor Allu Arjun, holding him accountable for the incident.
The tragedy occurred during a screening of an Allu Arjun film, drawing widespread criticism. Pawan Kalyan lauded Revanth Reddy for his decisive stance, contrasting it with the alleged indifference of the previous YSRCP government, which he claimed often targeted the film industry without cause. He praised the Telangana government for demonstrating that the law applies equally to everyone, regardless of their status.
The Deputy Chief Minister also criticised the film unit for its lack of empathy toward the victim’s family. “The movie team failed to offer condolences or visit the bereaved family. While Allu Arjun’s visit may not have been necessary, someone like the director or producer could have shown solidarity,” he remarked.
Although he supported the legal action, Pawan Kalyan questioned the focus on Allu Arjun alone. “A film is a collective effort involving many. It is unfair to single out Allu Arjun for the incident,” he said.
