The election campaign vehicle of Janasena chief K Pawan Kalyan has led to a controversy as the Transport Commissioner made it clear that ‘olive-green’ coloured vehicles were prohibited in the country.
Pawan Kalyan on December 7 unveiled a heavy vehicle christened ‘Varahi’ to be used for his tours and also for the election campaign. However, the ‘Varahi’ vehicle looked like an army truck with an ‘olive-green’ colour. Pawan Kalyan on December 7 released the photo of the vehicle to social media.
However, transport commissioner Prasad Rao here on Friday clarified that only the Indian Army is to use the olive-green vehicles. He said that he had seen the photo of the olive-green vehicle on social media.
“No private vehicle will have the olive-green colour as the Indian Army is using the colour for its vehicles. If Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Varahi’ comes out with the olive-green colour they will object to it,” the transport commissioner clarified.
Prasad Rao Rao further said that the vehicle chaises would clarify whether it is a transport vehicle or a goods vehicle. Before purchase, the purchaser should tell whether the vehicle would be used for transport purposes and goods transport purpose.
“If it is a transport vehicle, it should not be converted as goods vehicles. If it is a goods vehicle, it should not be converted as a camp van,” transport commissioner Prasad Rao made it clear.
At the same time, he also clarified that the ‘Royal Enfield’ motorcycle colour and design are different. “TDP founder N T Rama Rao also used the olive-green vehicle but in those days there were no such restrictions,” he said.
Former minister Perni Nani objected to Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Varahi’ vehicle stating that olive-green vehicles are used only by the Indian Army.
The law says that using olive-green vehicles by individuals is prohibited. “If Pawan Kalyan wants the olive-green colour to his vehicle, he can not get the vehicle registered,” he said. He ridiculed Pawan Kalyan by asking him to paint the vehicle with ‘yellow’ colour. Minister for Water Resources Ambati Rambabu also ridiculed Pawan Kalyan stating that ‘Take breath but not package’. Earlier, in a series of tweets, Pawan Kalyan asked whether rules are there for only Pawan Kalyan.
“Am I allowed to wear this shirt ‘YCP’? At least,”, he said. “1st you have stopped my films; in Visakhapatnam, you didn’t let me come out of the vehicle & hotel room & forced me to leave the city. In Mangalagiri you didn’t let my car go out, then didn’t let me walk & now the color of vehicle has become an issue. OK,shall I stop breathing?? Next, he tweeted tagging an olive-green car and a motorcycle.
