Pay MSP or face action: Komati Reddy tells millers

The government is taking all measures for the welfare of farmers, said Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy here on Wednesday. He warned the rice millers of action if they continued to harass farmers.
The Minister visited the Miryalaguda constituency and interacted with farmers. He also offered prayers at temples. The Minister asked the farmers whether they were facing any problems.
The farmers brought to the notice of the Minister that rice millers in Miryalaguda were harassing them. The millers, the farmers told the Minister, that the rice millers have not been paying even minimum support price for their produce.
The Minister was quick to respond. He called the officials of the  Civil Supplies Department. He directed the officials to take steps to ensure that the farmers are paid remunerative prices for their produce. The Minister warned that strict action would be taken against erring Miller. The government is working for the welfare of farmers. He directed the officials to ensure that farmers get remunerative prices for their produce.
The mills would be sealed if they failed to pay the support price for paddy, he said. If needed, the government would purchase the crop, he said. Farmers would be compensated in case of crop loss. “This is a people’s government, farmers’ government and injustice to farmers will not be tolerated,” he said. The previous government had diverted Godavari and Krishna waters to Andhra Pradesh. He said Telangana was being neglected in the south.
The farmers expressed their happiness over the Minister taking action immediately after they complained to him.
