TPCC President Revanth Reddy has asked Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Ramarao to start relief and rehabilitation operations in flood-affected GHMC areas.
He demanded that KTR should announce a relief of Rs 10,000 to those affected by the flood immediately and also help daily wage labourers who were rendered jobless by the heavy rains. Revanth also asked KTR to start repairing damaged roads on a war footing.
He warned that the Congress will lay siege on the GHMC office on Friday if KTR fails to solve public problems. Revanth said that they will organise a rally from the Telangana Martyrs’ Gun Park to the GHMC office to expose the failures of the Municipal Department.
He sent a letter to KTR regarding this on Thursday. In his letter, Revanth said that the people of Hyderabad are suffering due to continuous rains for the last four days. But the authorities could not be seen anywhere, he said.
He said that KTR had run away from his responsibilities leaving people to their fate while celebrating his birthday. Revanth said that the father (KCR) is in the farmhouse and the son (KTR) is busy partying when the public is facing problems.
He said that the people of Hyderabad were afraid of coming out from their residences as they don’t know where there are manholes and potholes. He said that KTR and KCR had made big claims that Hyderabad will be made a Dallas and the Old City an Istanbul, but the father and son have made Hyderabad a hell. Why are there traffic jams from the IT Corridor to Hayatnagar if KTR’s claim that Hyderabad is a hassle-free city is true, he asked.
He said that the present situation in Hyderabad is due to giving permissions for constructing illegal buildings after taking ‘commissions.’
He said that BRS corporation councillors and MLAs have been constructing illegal buildings after grabbing lakes and canals. But KTR has been maintaining silence regarding this instead of taking action against the BRS leaders committing illegal acts, he added.
Revanth said that the IMD had announced a Red Alert in Hyderabad city. But KTR is not taking any precautionary measures and has no time to listen to people drowning in low-lying areas, he added.
