Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar has directed the officials concerned to make arrangements to disburse money in 48 hours to the farmers after purchasing their paddy produce in the ensuing Kharif season.
A workshop was held here on Friday on the paddy procurement operation for the Joint Collectors of 10 districts, civil supplies, marketing, cooperative and agriculture department officials on making preparations to purchase Kharif season paddy produce.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nadendla Manohar said that the purchasing of paddy produce for the Kharif season would begin on October 1.
“Arrangements are being made to purchase 37 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from the farmers in the kharif season in the state. The process of purchase of paddy should be transparent and without flaws. There should be no technical snags in purchasing the paddy produce,” the Minister told the officials.
“We are taking steps to keep a ready large number of lorries ready along with the staff of farmer support centres and the staff of paddy purchase centres for transportation at the field level. We have arranged to know the transport data of each bag by connecting it to GPS,” the Civil Supplies Minister revealed.
Nadendla Manohar assured of making payment to the farmers within 48 hours of purchasing the paddy produce from them.
The coalition government in AP is carrying out development and implementing welfare schemes parallel, he highlighted. “Steps were taken to disburse crop loss compensation to the farmers in the flood-affected areas,” Manohar asserted.
Taking a dig at former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Civil Supplies Minister said that the previous government did not pay Rs 1674 crore to the farmers for their paddy produce, purchased in rabbi season and the Naidu-headed new government had cleared the dues in 30 days, he acknowledged. Civil Supplies MD Veerapandian, Marketing Director Manjir Jilani and a host of other officials were present.
