Minister for Finance Payyavula Keshav laid the foundation stone for the construction of a bridge at Narayanapuram village in Anantapur rural mandal on Wednesday.
The bridge is to be constructed at a cost of Rs 4.79 crore at the village. Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister said that construction of a bridge at Narayanapuram panchayat was a long pending demand. The people of the Narayanapuram village have been yearning for the bridge for the last few decades.
The new government headed by Chandrababu Naidu is constructing the bridge by spending Rs 4.79 crore. “The residents of Narayanapuram village can not go out of the village, if there is heavy rain. If the causeway bridge is constructed, their problem will be resolved,” he noted.
“If the bridge is constructed, it will reduce the distance to go to Kotamka and Martadu villages by 11 KMs,” the Finance Minister acknowledged.
Anantapur Urban MLA Daggupati Prasad said constructing a bridge at Narayanapuram village had been pending for a few decades. The construction of the bridge would resolve the long pending problem, the MLA said, and thanked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for releasing funds immediately to construct the bridge. He assured to take up massive development works in Anantapur urban constituency in the coming days.
MP Ambika Lakshmi-narayan said he had raised the issues of Anantapur district in the Parliament including the modernization of underground drainage system and granting smart city status.
The MP also promised that an airport would be constructed with an objective of exporting horticulture produce to other countries from Anantapur.
