Civil Supplies Minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao on Wednesday inaugurated the State-level Command Control Room set up in the Civil Supplies Building at Kanuru.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Command Control Centre is the first of its kind in India that was set up in the State. He said that the complete information regarding the procurement of farmers’ produce will be available through this centre.
The Civil Supplies Minister assured that farmers should not worry as the government will buy every grain grown by the farmer. He said that the government is promoting the cultivation of millets and the government is encouraging the farmers who cultivate millets.
The minister said that the purchase of millet grains will be started soon. He said that the distribution of wheat flour has been started in North Andhra as a pilot project and soon it will be started all over the state. Minister Nageswara Rao said that the propaganda about the poor quality of dal is untrue, officials have cooked it themselves and checked the quality, and there is no quality defect anywhere.
Minister Nageswara Rao said that a strong surveillance system has been established to prevent any irregularities in the grain collection and public distribution system in the State.
He said that the activities in 13 erstwhile which increased to 26 districts will be monitored from the command control centre, the collection of grain related to the crop grown by the farmers, the programme of delivery to beneficiaries’ homes through mobile vehicles in the public distribution system, MLS godowns, rice mills, movement of stage-1 and two transport vehicles and related details will be communicated in one place.
The Minister said that monitoring will be done from the command control centre through a live broadcast from the location. He said that the movement of mobile vehicles, home delivery of rice and essential commodities, and distribution of essential commodities to Anganwadi centres and schools will be monitored. He said that CC cameras will be installed in all the mills and the milling activities will be directly monitored through CC cameras. He said that this centre is very useful for alerting the concerned officers from the command control room centre about the errors found in this system and taking appropriate measures to prevent any irregularities from happening.
