TPCC President Revanth Reddy said that they will hand over the list of ticket hopefuls for the Assembly elections prepared by the Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) to the Screening Committee in a sealed cover on Monday. The Screening Committee will be in Hyderabad for three days, he added.
The Screening Committee comprising K. Muralidharan (Chairman), Baba Siddique and Jignesh Mevani (Members) will take the opinions of PEC members on Monday.
After that, the Screening Committee will hold a meeting with DCC presidents and senior leaders on Tuesday. On September 6, the Screening Committee will hold a special meeting to study the report submitted by the PEC, Revanth said.
Speaking to the media after the PEC meeting held on Sunday at the Gandhi Bhavan, Revanth said the Screening Committee will hand over the list prepared by it to the Central Election Committee (CEC). He said that an exercise is going on to announce the first list of candidates as soon as possible.
Revanth said the Central Election Committee will announce the final list. “Till then I would not have any information about the list of candidates. The selection of candidates is taking place in a fully transparent manner. We are giving top priority to BCs in selecting candidates. The selection of BC candidates would be based on local conditions and social classes. There should be no misconceptions in selecting candidates,” he said.
