District Collector Muzammil Khan has called upon officials of all government departments to work in coordination in making arrangements for the celebration of Ganesh festival and immersion of Ganesh idols.
He reviewed the arrangements for the celebration of Ganesh festival with Stambhadri Utsava Committee members, officials of various government departments and the immersion of the idols.
He exhorted the participants of the meeting to give a wide publicity on the use of eco-friendly Ganesh idols made of Plaster of Paris would cause harm to the environment. He wanted them to sensitise the people on this. Further, he wanted organisers to obtain permission for pandals.
The Ganesh Utsav Committee representations should be instructed to take suitable precautions to maintain the sanitation near the Ganesh pandals, while electrification of the pandals. Near  the places of immersion of the idols, barricades should be erected, public address system should be  deployed, drinking water should be provided, illumination should be provided and mobile toilets should be kept ready. At the  places of immersion of the idols, cranes should be deployed and expert swimmers should be appointed and their particulars should be furnished to the district administration, the collector said giving directions to the fisheries department official. At these points, 108 Ambulances should be kept ready. Medical camps should be  conducted at these points at mandal headquarters towns and villages. The officials should hold meetings with Ganesh Utsav Committee members and ensure that the Ganesh festival and immersion of the idols pass off smoothly.
Officials have been asked to undertake repairs to roads and precautions should be taken that the overhead electric cables hang dangerously. Moreover, there should be no interruption to power supply, he said seeking the cooperation of the Ganesh  Utsav  Committee members.
At the time of the installation of the Ganesh idols in the mandap, the police department would extend necessary assistance to the people. CCTV cameras should installed at the idol immersion points. A control room should be set up in coordination of all government departments.
 He asked the district officials to prepare a route plan for the Ganesh idol immersion procession and take all steps to complete the immersion of the idols on schedule. Security should be beefed up for the immersion, she said.
District Forest Officer Sidhhardh Vikram Singh, additional DCP Prasada Rao, district revenue officer M Rajeshwari, RDOs Ganesh, Rajender, Stambhadri Utsav Committee representatives, district  officials and others took part in the meeting.
