People who copy-paste outnumber those who send emails

Among those in the 15-29years age group in Telangana, there are more people who are good at doing copy+paste than sending emails. This bit of data was tabled in Parliament as part of the NSS 78th round Report-Multiple Indicator Survey in India.

Across Telangana, about 53.8% can perform function of copy or move a file or folder, 50.4percent can use copy & paste tools to duplicateor move information within a document and 45.5 send e-mails with attached files.

In rural Telangana, 43.9% can perform function of copy or move a file or folder, 39.8percent can use copy & paste tools to duplicate or move information within a document and 34.4 send e-mails with attached files like documents, pictures, and videos.

In urban Telangana, 67.7 % can perform function of copy or move a file or folder, 65.2percent can use copy & paste tools to duplicate or move information within a document and 61.1 send e-mails with attached files.

The National Statistical Office (NSO), under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, conducted a Multiple Indicator Survey in India: Education & ICT Skills as part of the 78thround of National Sample Survey (NSS) from 2020- 2021. The Report was published in March 2023. Minister of State for Electronics And Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said: “Further, in order to improve the digital literacy rate, especially in rural India, the Government of India launched a scheme titled “Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA)” in 2017 to usher in digital literacy in rural India by covering 6 crore rural households (one person per household). Under this Scheme, as on 2nd August 2023, around 7.04 crore candidates have been enrolled and 6.08 crore candidates have been trained, out of which 4.53 crore candidates have been certified.”

In the state of Telangana, a total of more than 12,71,637 candidates have been enrolled and 10,35,227 candidates have been trained, out of which 7,16,373 candidates have been duly certified under the PMGDISHA Scheme.
