Phone-tapping case  Accused snooped 4,200 phone calls prior to Assembly elections

The State government told to the High Court that the accused in the phone-tapping case intercepted 4,200 phone calls, including those of Congress party leaders, from November 15 to 30 of 2023. Justice Juvvada Sridevi heard a bail petition of M Thirupathanna on Saturday.
The Public Prosecutor said that the accused collected information of present Health Minister D Rajanarasimha, ex- MLA Sangareddy Jagga Reddy and other people.
The Public Prosecutor said that the police found that the accused have monitored through interception, Call Detail Record (CDR), Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR) and other locations. Prabhakar Rao shared the CDR analysis reports of Janagaon district Collector, Camp Clerk (CC) of VIkarabad Collector and other revenue employees to the accused. “Not only politicians, even revenue authorities, including Janagao and Vikarabad district collectors and other revenue department officials phone numbers were monitored,” he added.
He said that during the arguments over the bail, the Public Prosecutor said that after the accused were relieved from the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB), the officials received information of the tapping.
The Public Prosecutor said that the police retrieved the information from accused Thirupathanna’s phone. According to that information, the accused had tapped the phones of 119 candidates of the Congress during election time. They intercepted the phone of then TDP leader Kasani Gyaneshwar. During the Huzurabad by- elections in 2021, the accused collected telephone numbers and information related to panchayats, secretaries, sarpanchs, mandal development officer and others.
The Public Prosecutor said that the Police received the FSL report on July 1, 2024. The report revealed that then Nakrekal MLA sent a message to Thirupathanna to target a person named Orusu Raju. Even the police have not found out about him yet.  The police have confirmed the number from the accused mobile and intercepted that number of service providers. Then MLA Jaipal Yadav also sent messages to the accused and told them to intercept several numbers.
 It may be important to mention here that the elections for the State Assembly were conducted on November 30 and results were declared on December 3.
