Is it possible for Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s government to fix the ‘supreme’ in the phone-tapping issue? Finally, former Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has opened his mouth in the phone-tapping issue which happened under his regime. Former CM KCR has thrown the responsibility on the police department for phone-tapping. But some logic is missing in KCR’s statement on the phone-tapping issue. The top accused police officials in the phone-tapping issue in the investigation revealed that the phone-tapping was done on the directions of the ‘supreme’. Everyone can understand that the ‘supreme’ means that its only former CM KCR. But KCR said that the phone-tapping issue had nothing to do with the chief minister or the ministers. It was part of the intelligence gathering system by the police officials. It means that the KCR government is well aware about the phone-tapping.
Here the question is if the police officials have done this as a part of intelligence gathering as told by KCR, why the police officials destroyed the data immediately after the BRS lost power? Here another point in KCR’s statement was that “the tapping requires Union Home Ministry’s permission and is done in a systematic manner without political interference.”
The police department tapped the phones of suspected criminals to know their activity, as told by KCR. But why the police tapped the phones of politicians and others those who have no criminal background. Here, the interesting point is that former governor of Telangana Tamilisai Sundararajan alleged that her phone was also tapped. There were allegations that the BJP leaders’ phones were also tapped in the poaching of BRS MLAs incident.
The Central government is led by the BJP and its permission is required to tap any phone. According to investigation officials, the phones of Congress and BJP leaders were also tapped by the previous BRS regime. There was no surprise if that the Central government led by the BJP has given permission to tap the phone numbers of Congress leaders. The surprising thing was giving permision by the BJP-led Central government to tap phones of its own party leaders.
KCR said that the permission was taken from the Union Home Ministry by the police to tap the phones in a systematic manner. If the allegations of former governor and Telangana BJP leaders are true in tapping their phones, the Central government should have given permission to Telangana police to tap their phones. But no one believes that the BJP government would give permission to tap the phones of its own party leaders and the governor. The fact is if the Chief Minister or the ministers asks the police to tap any phone number, there are no written orders. There are only oral orders.
