In a recent interview, actor Hiten Tejwani didn’t hold back when speaking with The Pioneer’s Shikha Duggal. The actor, who has acted in several well-known television series and movies such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Krishna Cottage, and Kalank, among others, talked candidly with us for this week’s celeb talk.
“Because Gauri is my wife, I don’t have to work hard with her to project the chemistry on-screen,” said Hiten without hesitation when questioned about his wife’s reunion on the currently airing television series Pashminna during the discussion.
On the set of their 2001 programme Kutumb, Hiten met his future wife, Gauri. After getting married in 2004, they went on to collaborate on a number of other shows. Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi was their final performance together in 2015. Hiten gives an explanation for their reunion chemistry taking place after eight years: “It is instinctive. We are so familiar with one another that she anticipates my next action, so even if we are rejoining on screen after a protracted break, I don’t have to worry about our chemistry. After working with her on several projects together, our chemistry doesn’t need to be particularly noteworthy at this point — it should just be pleasant.”
They received numerous proposals, but they turned many of them down since they were of little value. Something fresh is present here. People assigned them the identical roles of husband and wife in all the other offers. There is some history, some tension, and some arc here. He thought it was interesting how these two people would now confront each other after all these years. They felt compelled to take action because of this. Another positive aspect, he shared was: “We were thrilled to learn that we would be filming in Kashmir. My character then takes on a grey shade. Playing a game you have never played before is amazing. The character is incredibly devious and conceited. Once more, filming in Kashmir was an unforgettable experience. All of the weather conditions were encountered during the course of our filming! It seemed so mesmerising to be travelling over Dal Lake in a shikhara. Particularly throughout the winter! It was enjoyable to shoot, even though we were all bundled up in extra layers of clothing due to the extreme cold.”
The Tandav fame continued, “Although your houseboat or car will still have a heater, you are unable to escape the bitter cold outside. Then, this serial offers a twist on the traditional husband-and-wife position! This character has a full-story arc. It’s just Gauri’s inherent dynamic on screen. My wife is a gifted actor, so we have chemistry without me having to try too hard. Another benefit is that, in contrast to a full-length soap opera that airs on television, it’s a limited serial with a set number of episodes. The methodology remains unchanged.”
In addition to presenting a lovely love tale, Pashminna-Dhaage Mohabbat Ke showcases the stunning scenery of Kashmir, where the show’s original episodes were filmed by the cast and crew. Also, Hiten says, “It’s a fast show, and I don’t think any serial has ever been shot entirely in Kashmir,” he remarked, recalling some unforgettable moments. “In my field, changes are unavoidable, and I always tend to adjust right away. Since I can be certain that my viewers won’t pretend, I prefer to base my work on their likes and dislikes. Fans no longer watch fictional shows; instead, they prefer to keep up with current events. This is what is currently occurring in the television industry — real sites are being chosen, for example.”
Hiten further disclosed, “Our fans’ love is unstoppable. Even after 22 years, they still hope to see us both in some legendary roles. I now must keep them entertained. I’ve observed them waiting for our announcements of the next endeavour or our constant comebacks.”
