PM Modi’s contribution to space research is commendable: MP

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contribution to space research in India is commendable. The National Space Day-2024 celebrations, under the auspices of the Department of Water Resources under the National Hydrology Project, Andhra Pradesh, were held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetra on Monday. The MP was the chief guest of the programme and inaugurated the stalls set up by students and various colleges, interacting with those who used space technology to create machines beneficial to daily life. He expressed his delight at being part of the first National Space Day celebrations.
On this occasion, MP Sivanath noted that the use of space technology in daily life has increased significantly. The services of scientist Vikram Sarabhai, former President and scientist Abdul Kalam, in achieving such development in space research in India cannot be forgotten. August 23, 2023, marked a historic milestone in India’s space exploration. He highlighted that ISRO’s Vikram Lander and Pragyan Rover have made Indians proud by touching the surface of the South Pole of the Moon. To mark this unprecedented achievement, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for declaring August 23 each year as National Space Day to inspire the youth.
He added that, beyond celebrating the progress in space research and the success of the first step on the Moon, it is essential to understand the impact of space technology on our daily lives.
Eminent scientists and officers from central organisations who attended include Bharath Kumar Reddy K, Scientist/Engineer-SD, ISRO – NRSC; Mannu Upadhyay, Director, CWC, Hyderabad; BC Parida, SOI – Director, AP & TG Geospatial Directorate; Dr SV Vijay Kumar, Scientist-G, NIH, Kakinada; VS Jeyakanthan, Scientist-F, NIH, Kakinada; N Srinivas, Joint Director, GW & AD, AP; Rani VR, Scientist-D, CGWB; and Murali K Reddy, TAMC, NPMU, NHP – Procurement Expert.
Officers and engineers from various State government organisations, such as the Water Resources Department and Ground Water and Water Audit Department, also attended the conference. Students, along with their faculty from KL University, VR Siddhartha University, and VIT AP University, and children from various schools, attended and showcased their models in the exhibition.
