The police seized fake currency notes with Rs 47 lakh face value and arrested two persons.
SP KPS Kishore told the media here on Sunday the police arrested two accused Marumudi Madhusudan Rao of Chintalapudi village and Bireli Rambabu of Goppalavarigudem village.
The complaint D Phani Kumar complained with the three town police station that the accused offered him Rs 47 lakh forfeited currency notes if he gave Rs 10 lakh genuine notes. The police registered a case 241/2024, 179,180,182,318 (1) r/w 3 (5) BNS and arrested two accused and seized 500 currency notes bundles with Rs 44 lakh of face value.
When the accused forced Phini Kumar to give some amount as advance to deliver fake current notes, he had given them Rs 3 lakh worth of genuine current notes on July 30. However, one of the friends of the complaint Phanikumar cautioned him that the accused would cheat him as they were fraudsters.
Then, he approached the police and informed them about the fake current note racket. The police arrested the two accused and seized 94 bundles of 500 notes and they were Rs 47 lakh of face value. The police also seized a mobile phone from the accused.
The district SP appreciated Three Town Inspector Kagita Srinivasa Rao and CCS Inspector Ch Muralikrishna for arresting the two accused.
