Industries Minister KT Rama Rao praised the Central Government and state governments across the country.

“Today governments across the country, be it the Centre or state governments, understand you (industry) better now than 30 years ago. Thirty years ago, IAS officers used to sit in their ivory towers and businesses had to beg them for licenses. Today that is not there, we are coming to you, we are pushing you,” KTR said while addressing a FTCCI function.

“Governments are accessible to you. Entry barriers have been lowered. It is easy to do business now,” he said. KTR called upon industry to give him a hat-trick in the next election and the audience applauded. “Going by the applause, I think we will come back,” he said.

He emphasized that policy continuity is important for industry. “Governance is a continuous process and policy continuity is important. You expect that promises made by the government will continue irrespective of political affiliations,” he said. Comparing the two CMs, Chandrababu Naidu and Dr YS Rajashekahara Reddy and their governance, he said that K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s governance is a mix of pro-rural, pro-farmer, pro-welfare, pro-urban, and is pro-development.

Speaking on the occasion KTR said that disruption and innovation in policy is the secret behind the Telangana model. TS iPass and Online Building Permission are some of the few examples, he quoted.

He also added that in the next year, 50% of the global requirement of vaccines will be produced in Hyderabad.

Responding to the request made by FTCCI President Anil Agarwal about OTS (One Time Settlement) of electricity bills, he said he will do the needful.

On reversing the Trade Licence system and other requests about the land of FTCCI etc, he said he would arrange a meeting after consultations with the Chief Minister.

KT Rama Rao gave away FTCCI Excellence Awards to 22 people in a function held at the HICC in Madhapur on Monday.

Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, the Principal Secretary of Industries & Commerce (I&C) and IT, Electronics & Communications, and Anil Kumar Chalamalasetty, the CEO and MD of the Greenko group attended the awards function as guests of honour.
