Sangareddy District Superintendent of Police M Ramana Kumar on Wednesday sought the cooperation of all political parties to facilitate free and fair elections.
He was holding a meeting with the representatives of political parties, Electoral Registration Officers and the Assistant Electoral Registration officer here. Ramana Kumar stressed the need to follow the “Dos” and “Don’ts” as specified by the Election Commission.
Additional Collector Madhuri made it clear that measures would be taken to ensure free and fair elections. The Additional Collector sought the cooperation of political parties to conduct elections without any hitch.
The representatives of various political parties, who took part in the meeting, brought to the attention of the officials various issues. The officials discussed the setting of new polling stations with the representatives of political parties. The polling stations, which were set up in dilapidated buildings would be shifted to new places, the Additional Collector said. She said that a new polling station would be set up wherever there are more than 1,400 voters and a new polling station would be set up in the newly-formed colonies. Currently, there are 1,560 polling centres in the district. The Additional Collector further said that 36 new polling stations are proposed to be set up.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok, DRO Nagesh, DSPs, Revenue Divisional Officers, Constituency Head Quarter Tehsildars, Collectorate AO and others were present.
