In the wake of the release of the draft voter list, Hyderabad District Election Officer (DEO) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Ronald Rose has asked the representatives of the political parties to contribute their part in the preparation of a clean voter list without errors. He organised a meeting with the representatives of national and state level recognised political parties, returning officers and nodal officers on the correction of errors in the voter list on Monday.

The Commissioner said, “I have directed the ROs and Election Registration Officers to look into the objections raised by the representatives of the respective parties on the changes in the polling booths and give written answers. It has been informed that the Booth Level Officers (BLO) App is available exclusively in the special voter campaign undertaken as part of the second summary revision. If any BLOs do not perform their duties properly, appropriate action will be taken against them.”

Across the 15 constituencies in Hyderabad district, 4.61 lakh voters with various types of errors have to be taken through Form-8. While 4,20,499 applications have been collected so far, the remaining 41,269 people have been asked to provide full cooperation.

Ronald Rose said that 12,147 applications were received during the special voter registration campaign. As directed by the Election Commission, a meeting will be held at the constituency level every Wednesday at 3 pm under the chairmanship of the ERO along with representatives of all political parties.

After the representatives of the parties informed the Commissioner that the agenda items were not being held in the meeting every Wednesday, a draft agenda was prepared and the meeting was held accordingly.

The representatives of all parties asked the district election officer to organise a special campaign on two more dates as there was a great response to the special summary revision campaign programme. For voter awareness, mobile phone messages have been sent to 10 lakh property tax payers under the GHMC.

Additional Commissioner Shankaraiah, Zonal Commissioners Venkatesh Detre, Venkanna, Returning Officers, other nodal officers, Karwan MLA Kausar Moinuddin participated on behalf of the AIMIM, Bahujan Samaj Party representatives Sunil and Nandish Kumar, Bharatiya Janata Party representative Ponna Venkataramana and others participated in the meeting.
