He was taking part in the flagging off new bus services – Nalgonda-Hyderabad non-stop A/C bus service and three deluxe bus services – at Nalgonda bus station here on Saturday along with Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that RTC buses would be increased in tune with the demand. He said that 30 luxury and 30 Express bus services would be operated to Nalgonda district by Dasara. For the benefit of the commuters, even air-conditioned bus services are going to be operated to other districts, he said. The government has paid 21 per cent of the basic pay towards DA to the RTC employees and cleared Rs 80 crore out of the total Rs 280 crore dues to the RTC. The balance of Rs 200 crore would be cleared by July-end, he clarified.
Recruitment of 3,035 personnel in the TGSRTC will be completed soon. Luxury buses would be operated to district headquarters from each constituency, including Hyderabad, he said.
The announcement of the Minister brought cheers to the commuters.
With the launching of Mahalakshmi scheme in Telangana, the rush in RTC buses has increased manifold. The occupancy ratio has increased with the government offering free ride to women, girls and transgenders. The number of passengers travelling by RTC buses has increased to 30 lakh from the previous 12 lakh per day. The RTC buses are running at full capacity.
