Rajinikanth has teamed up with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for their upcoming film Coolie. The movie features an ensemble cast, including Telugu superstar Nagarjuna, Kannada star Upendra, Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John and others. Produced by Kalanidhi Maran, Coolie is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and the makers have roped in Pooja Hegde for a special song.
According to sources, the shooting of this special song was completed on Tuesday. Pooja Hegde, making her comeback to South cinema, has already signed films opposite Suriya and Tamil superstar Vijay. While she is busy with Tamil films and has also signed a couple of Hindi projects, she took up this special song in Coolie because it is a Rajinikanth film, the source revealed.
The actress reportedly charged Rs 2 crore for this special number, which was shot over three days. This makes it one of the highest fees paid to an actress for a special song. With its star-studded cast and high production value, Coolie is expected to be a massive entertainer. The film is slated for a summer release, according to sources.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his intelligent filmmaking, is one of the most sought-after directors in Tamil cinema. He has previously helmed blockbusters like Leo, Vikram, Master and Kaithi. In Coolie, Rajinikanth plays a character named Deva and expectations are sky-high for this collaboration.
