Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to complete Phase-1 works of the Machilipatnam, Ramayapatnam, Mulapeta, and Kakinada Gateway ports by December 2025. He also instructed that Phase-1 construction of the Juvvaladinne, Nizampatnam, Machilipatnam, and Uppada fishing harbours be completed within the same timeframe.

Chairing a review meeting at his camp office in Undavalli on Tuesday, the Chief Minister stressed that ports and fishing harbours are key economic assets for Andhra Pradesh and urged their speedy completion and operationalisation. Discussions also focused on port operations and maintenance. He directed officials to examine the feasibility of upgrading fishing harbours into minor ports without affecting the interests of local fishing communities, thereby boosting regional income.

The CM also ordered immediate commencement of Phase-1 works for new airports at Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Amaravati, and Srikakulam (Palasa). He reiterated his vision of developing at least 20 ports and 14 airports across the state. Road expansion in line with traffic demands and integration with national highways through the PPP mode was also stressed.

Mr Naidu announced plans to set up the Andhra Pradesh Logistics Corporation to spearhead infrastructure development in roads, ports, airports, and harbours. He also instructed officials to prepare a blueprint for heliports in agency areas to promote tribal tourism.

Officials informed the CM that Machilipatnam Port is 43.25% complete, Ramayapatnam 63.89%, Mulapeta 46.59%, and Kakinada Gateway Port 29.92%. Among fishing harbours, Juvvaladinne stands at 97.72%, Nizampatnam at 81.17%, Machilipatnam at 69.20%, and Uppada at 78.94%.
