POWER BILL COLLECTIONCong govt conspiring to entrust task to Adani group: Jagadish Reddy

Must read

Former Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLA G Jagdish Reddy on Sunday accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of hatching a conspiracy to entrust the task of collecting power bills to the Adani Group.
Jagdish Reddy alleged that the collection of power bills from individuals would not remain confined to Old City alone. It is only a pilot project. The entire system of collection of power bills in the State would be privatised, he felt. The Congress government, Jagadish Reddy said, is taking steps to privatise the power sector.
The former Power Minister alleged that the power subsidies and free power supply to farmers would be withdrawn. Meters will be installed to agriculture pump sets. The BRS government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao had resisted the Central government’s pressure to install meters to agriculture pump sets.
Jagadish Reddy claimed that Revanth Reddy has been working under the direction of the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi and Adani are dictating what kind of policies are to be implemented, he said.
Revanth Reddy sought to justify the decision to private power bill collection on the ground that only 45 per cent of bills were being collected in the Old City. In Telangana, 95 to 97 per cent of power bills are paid. Revanth Reddy asserted.
Jagdish Reddy said that the Congress government promised to provide free electricity up to 200 units. There are more households in Old City which were using less than 200 units of power, he said.
