Give 24 hours’ power supply in Congress-ruled states: BRS

BRS ministers came down heavily on Revanth Reddy over his comments on the supply of free electricity to farmers in the state.
Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, Power Minister Jagadish Reddy and Rythubandhu Samiti State President Palla Rajeshwar Reddy held a media conference at the BRS LP office.
“The Congress is shaking with shock. Is there a policy for the Congress nationally and state-wise on the electricity issue? Telangana peasantry will not forgive it. Before criticising the shortcomings of the government, one should study the respective sectors. The government of Telangana has provided Rs 72,000 crore to farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. Does the Congress have a vision to take Telangana forward? The Congress has never thought about the people,” Niranjan said.
“Whatever the Congress and the BJP want to do, they have to press the switch in New Delhi. But the soul of the BRS is in Telangana,” he added.
He said that 24 hours of supply is for the convenience of farmers. Depending on need, one may use 8 hours or 10 hours. “We demand that 24 hours of free electricity supply should be provided to farmers all over the country,” he said.
Minister Jagdish Reddy said, “If industries and residential houses can have 24 hours of electricity supply why this discussion about electricity supply to farmers. Farmers and the public should think about this and understand their conspiracies.KCR’s idea is to make 24-hour electricity available to farmers like everyone else. If the party has guts, 24-hour free electricity should be given immediately in Congress-ruled states.”
Although there is a possibility of providing 24-hour electricity supply in Chhattisgarh, the government is not giving it to farmers and is selling electricity to other states.
Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said, “There should be a discussion on the Congress method of three hours of electricity supply. In 2601 Rythuvedikas we will discuss with farmers about the electricity supply policy of the Congress. No state in the country provides free 24-hour electricity to farmers. Revanth should apologize to Telangana farmers.”
