The BRS and the Congress took to the streets over free power supply to farmers with both of them burning the effigies of each other’s leaders.
While the BRS burnt the effigy of TPCC chief Revanth Reddy for saying that farmers don’t need more than three hours of power, the Congress burnt the effigies of KCR for not giving quality power.
Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said that this is the moment the Telangana farmer has to decide whether he wants three crops of the BRS or three hours of power supply by the Congress or “fires in the name of religion by the BJP.”
BRS MLC Kavitha led a protest in Hyderabad on Wednesday against Congress President A. Revanth Reddy’s statement on limiting the free power supply to farmers.
As per a call given by Revanth Reddy, Congress cadres staged protests on Wednesday at power sub-stations across the state against what he said was the fraud being committed by the BRS government in the name of free power supply to farmers. The protest was apparently called to counter the demonstrations being held by the BRS across the state against Revanth Reddy’s reported statement that there is no need for 24-hour free power to farmers.
The AICC in-charge for Telangana, Manikrao Thakre, said that the BRS distorted Revanth’s statement and was trying to spread lies as it was afraid of the rising graph of the Congress.
“BRS leaders have realized that the ground is slipping under their feet and so they are spreading lies,” he said.
Claiming that the Congress stands for farmers, he said the party will promise a 24-hour free electricity supply.
Earlier on Wednesday, MLC Kavitha led the BRS’ protest at the Vidyut Soudha against the TPCC’s statement for reducing free power supply from 24 hours to three hours for the farmers of Telangana. Many leaders, workers and supporters of the BRS joined her.
She said after building hollow mountains of tall promises for farmers as per the Farmer’s Declaration a few days ago, the anti-farmer intent of the Congress has been exposed. She said that the Telangana Government and the BRS have been protecting farmers’ interests. The exemplary harvests and investments for farmers have been acknowledged globally and by famous economists. The data and ranking of Telangana across all charts are a testimony of how favourable policies that are in the best interest of farmers can give excellent results both to the farmers and the State’s economy, she said.
She said that the BRS is committed to protecting the interests of farmers and nothing can stop them.
Kavitha while leading the BRS protest at the Vidyut Soudha against the Congress’s anti-farmer statement, lashed out at Rahul Gandhi and asked him if he also agreed with the TPCC’s stand on reducing free electricity supply to farmers.
She said that after making tall promises in Telangana and announcing the Farmers’ Declaration, Rahul must clear his stand on where he stands on farmers’ issues.
She said that if Rahul has no answers to the TPCC statement on reducing free electricity supply to farmers then he has no right to come to Telangana and speak with farmers.
Kavitha said that Revanth has been in both the TDP and the Congress and these two parties never provided proper electricity supply to farmers.
Why are Congress leaders upset when the 24-hour power supply is given to farmers, asked Kavitha. She called upon people to kick out Revanth if he visits any village saying that three hours of power supply is enough.
