Must read

Kidney transplant patients across the State came to Prajavani at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan on Friday and staged a silent demonstration urging the State government to replicate the monthly pension scheme of Rs 10,000 being implemented in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, to them.
They also urged the State government to provide employment to them. “This is the second time we are coming here requesting to introduce the monthly pension scheme to kidney transplant patients and to provide employment, “said a member of Cheyutha Foundation for organ transplants.
Everyday thousands of people undergo kidney transplantation and many people donate their kidney to their siblings and relatives to save them.
Some people are forced to sell their properties to clear the hospital bills and they have to suffer a lot physically and mentally. So, it will be a great help, if the State government considers their application and introduces the pension scheme, they urged. They have submitted their application to Vice Chairman of the State Planning Board G. Chinna Reddy.
“My brother has given me a kidney and saved my life, but now we need work to do. We should take medicines regularly and for that we have to pay money. Moreover, we have lots of side effects,” said Soumya (name changed) of Shamshabad.
The patients have also written a letter to CM A Revanth Reddy to extend the monthly and provide employment. Thanking the government for establishing dialysis centres in the districts, they said introducing Jeevandhan for organ donation was a major step forward.
A total of 338 applications were received at Prajavani on Friday. 79 applications received at the Housing department, 52 applications received at Revenue department, 35 applications received at Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, 35 applications received at the Electricity board, 29 applications received at SC Welfare department and 108 applications received at other departments.
