Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Amrapali Kata on Monday asked authorities to prioritise the resolution of public appeals.
The Commissioner enquired about the problems of the people from all over the greater region and patiently listened to each one’s problem and accepted the appeals. The respective grievances were handed over to the authorities concerned and directed to take immediate action to resolve them.
Some of the petitioners demanded allocation of double bedroom houses. However, Amrapali explained that the two bedroom flats are only being alloted to eligible beneficiaries. The Commissioner further said, “32 pleas were received during the public hearing conducted at the head office, while another 11 pleas were received through telephone. Among the applications received, 15 were of Town Planning, Transport 1, CVO/Revenue 2, CMHO 2, Sports 2, Engineering Maintenance 3, Veterinary 2, HMWSSB 2, Estates 1 and Housing 2.”
“In all, 11 complaints were received over the telephone and were directed to the concerned authorities. A total of 81 applications were received in six zones. Out of that, maximum 42 applications were received in Kukatpally zone. Similarly, Serilingampally received 20 requests, Charminar 8, Secunderabad 7, LB Nagar 1 and Khairatabad 3,” the Commissioner concluded.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Amrapali has directed the authorities concerned to take measures to control mosquitoes in the city and take strict precautions to prevent the spread of diseases. She held a teleconference with Zonal Commissioners and Additional Commissioners and gave directions on various issues on Monday.
She ordered to apply gambuzia and oil balls in mosquito-breeding areas to prevent the growth of mosquitoes. It was advised to observe a dry day every Friday for the prevention of mosquitoes, and to conduct awareness programmes for the people to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases like dengue, chikungunya, typhoid, diarrhoea, toxic fevers during the rainy season. The officials were directed to provide health services to the people. It was advised to monitor regularly to ensure that sanitation is maintained properly. All the officers of the affiliated departments were ordered to work in coordination.
