Priority for safety in industries: Collector

District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh has instructed the officials concerned to ensure that strict safety measures are followed in all industries in the district.

Eluru District Industries Safety Inspection Committee Chairman and District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh, along with the Industrial Safety Inspection Committee team, inspected the Sarvaraya Sugars bottling unit at P Kannapuram village in Dwaraka Tirumala mandal on Tuesday.

The Collector inspected the WP unit, power unit, micro lab, testing lab, boiler, AIR compressor, chilling equipment, ETP plant, warehouse, and storage room in the coca-cola bottling factory. He also inspected the safety-related equipment, medicines, danger boards, clean and green checked in the factory.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that safety measures are imperative in all industries and appropriate measures should be taken to avert accidents. In order to avoid accidents, the state government has recently issued a GO, MS.79.

The Collector instructed the management of the factories to strictly follow and implement the industrial safety guidelines.

Later, a meeting was held with the officials of the factory. In the wake of the recent incidents of accidents in some industries causing loss of life and property, Go MS No. 79 was released by the government to implement safety measures to prevent industrial mishaps.

According to this GO, an industrial safety monitoring committee has been set up in the district, the chairman of which is the collector, and the members of the committee are DCIF, Pollution EE, GM DIC, and DCL, and they will carry out inspections on the safe implementation of the factories, and the inspection report to the government, the Collector said.

The collector further said that out of 28 factories in the Eluru district, the team has so far inspected 16 factories for safety measures. He warned that action would be taken against the factory management who violated the government guidelines and faced accidents as per the Industries Act.

Collector Prasanna Venkatesh ordered the officials to take steps to set up a compost yard in P Kannapuram. Pollution Control Board EE KV Rao explained to the Collector that the Coca-Cola bottling unit was set up in 2017 and has a unit on 70 acres and the second unit is ready to start soon.

The Collector expressed satisfaction after inspecting the cleanliness, cleanliness and green, management of the units in the Collector Factory. DCIF R Trinath Rao, GM DIC, P Yesudasu, DCL K. Vasantha Rao and Factory Manager GVV Satyanarayana were among those who accompanied the Collector.
