Lakhs of families across the state are facing land issues and several families are disturbed due to the BRS government’s Dharani Portal, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said. He said that it had come to his notice when he visited villages after the Lok Sabha elections that around 200 families are facing land issues in every village. In order to solve these problems, there is a need to reorganise the Dharani Portal and change laws on land-related matters. Steps have already been taken in this direction, he said. On Friday, Revenue Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy held a meeting with Dharani Committee members M. Kodanda Reddy, M. Sunil Kumar and Madhusudan at his office in the Secretariat.

The Minister said that people are facing problems due to the Dharani Portal which was introduced in a hurry by the BRS government without conducting any study. He said that the Congress government is giving top priority to solving these problems. As per the promise given during the election campaign, immediate steps are being taken to clean up the revenue system (Dharani). A fivemember committee has been constituted to study problems arising due to the Dharani Portal, and the recommendations made by this committee were discussed at length at Friday’s meeting. The committee has decided to hold a meeting with all Collectors before submitting its final report to the government. This committee thoroughly examined the RoR Act in 18 states and held discussions with land experts and officials in the state. The Minister said the committee suggested that revenue tribunals should be set up for settling land disputes and all important laws about land should be consolidated into a single law. He disclosed that besides strengthening the Dharani Portal and correcting the flawed 2020 RoR Act, changes are going to be made in the Dharani Portal in a manner that is easily understandable to all.Clear instructions have already been issued to solve land problems placed in PartB by the BRS government, and it has been suggested that rapid steps should be taken to solve these problems, he said.
